Classroom Policies

We follow all guidelines in the Ascension Student Handbook.  If there are any discrepancies, the Handbook trumps the classroom policies set forth by the teacher.

Grading Scale

     A  90-100

     B  80-89

     C  70-79

     D  60-69

     F  59 and below

Grades

Grades comes from a combination of quizzes, tests, drills, projects, participation, and potentially homework.

Absences

Please see teacher on the day of return after an absence to make arrangements for any missed or late work.  Communication may be in person or via email/google classroom.  The student will be held responsible for going to the teacher in this timely manner and following through with the plan determined.

Homework

Homework assignments will be posted in Google Classroom along with other assignments and information throughout the year.

Materials for Class

  • something to write with (pencils are suggested)
  • something to write on
  • calculator
  • textbook
  • laptop
  • optional:  dry-erase marker(s) and wipes to do scratch-work directly on tables

*Students way wish to keep a folder or binder for keeping and organizing class notes, etc.

Cell Phones

Please do not use cell phones during class without explicit permission.  If you have a cell phone in class, please have it in silent mode (not just vibrate).  If I see or hear unapproved devices, I collect them and turn them into the office.  Do not use your approved devices for unapproved actitivites (i.e., texting through messengers, communicating on google drive, social media, etc.).

Discipline

First offense is usually a verbal warning.  Second offense may be parent contact.  Third offense is likely going to lead to a referal to the office.

Communication

The best way to reach me is always email or google classroom.  My email is hnowicki@ascensionbluegators.org.  I try my best to respond within 24 hours.  If you do not hear back from me, please remind me or try again as occasionally things slip by.  You are responsible for checking your email and assignments in Google Classroom DAILY.

Food in the classroom

Water is always permitted.  No other beverages are allowed.  We have carpet in the portable building, so compliance with this policy is greatly appreciated.

Snacks are generally allowed.  I expect students to eat quietly and quickly (eat your snack and be done!).  If the teacher or another student in sharing, please do not get up to throw away trash.  This is one way we can show respect!

Entering the Classroom

Please do not enter the classroom if a teacher is not present.  If you are tardy, please enter quietly.
